The TEC Services Association (TSA) welcomes the Government’s immediate action to support adult social care by harnessing the power of technology, and by setting new national standards and guidance so that people, families and care providers can confidently identify and buy care technology that works.
As leading experts in the field, we have developed and implemented standards and guidance to ensure the quality and effectiveness of care technology. We know what a difference this makes when supporting people to live at home for longer, improving their health, wellbeing and quality of life.
We look forward to working with the Government to set these national standards and develop trusted guidance that gives older and disabled people everywhere in the country consistent access to high quality care technology.
We also look forward to collaborating with the Government, so technology is better integrated into care plans, supporting people to live the lives they want, independently at home, rather than in hospital.
Finally, we warmly welcome the announcement of a new independent commission to transform social care. The innovation and hands on experience in the care technology sector means we are uniquely placed to contribute to this commission, supporting the Government to make the best use of technology to transform care, improve training and boost collaboration between NHS and care staff.
Alyson Scurfield, CEO of the TEC Services Association (TSA), said: “The Government is planning to underpin the new national care service with national standards and it’s vital the same consistency of care is applied to care technology. We very much welcome the Government’s focus on quality and safety and look forward to sharing our expertise, knowledge and insights in this area.”
