Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria invites you to our Digital Inclusion Forum (9th September)

19 August 2024

Health Innovation NENC are supporting the efforts to create a regional digital inclusion forum and will be hosting an online session on Monday, 9 September between 13:30 - 15:00

During this forum we have the unique opportunity to hear from individuals whose personal stories will illuminate how digital tools and platforms have empowered them, improved their quality of life, and bridged gaps that once seemed impossible. This will not only highlight the practical benefits of digital inclusion but also help us understand the human impact of having access to digital resources.

We are especially honoured to have Olympian Shelley Holroyd as our host for this inspiring event. Shelley's journey, marked by dedication, resilience, and a commitment to excellence, resonates deeply with the themes of our forum and how as a system we can help overcome challenges and achieve greatness, whether in sports, in life, or through embracing digital innovation.

In Shelley’s words “The session will enlighten everyone’s perspective of what digital inclusion truly means and bridge the divide that we see before us. “

Digital inclusion continues to be a national focus. The Good things Foundation and the Digital Poverty Alliance continue to campaign to eradicate digital poverty.

If you have additional needs, please email Leanne.maitland@healthinnovationnenc.org.uk and we’ll do what we can to help you.

Olympic athlete, avid gamer, coach, mentor, partially deaf and living with chronic pain since 2009.

Shelley has coached Paralympic Gold Medalists, was part of the Invictus games inception, developed world class sports academies and has had the privilege of meeting royalty.

Digital inclusion is lacking across the UK. People treat it as a tick box exercise which doesn’t solve the problem. By reducing the divide within the services we can ensure everyone has the same access to education, care, digital training and all of the services that others rely on so heavily. Even the fun stuff!

Now, her focus has changed to developing accessible esports, accessibility in the workplace to ensure everyone is on a level playing field and providing digital products to bridge the gap.
