Gemma Oliver - Membership Executive

After graduating from Worcester University with a degree in Psychology and associated Sociology, I have worked across the Health and Care sectors. I have worked for a National Foster Care agency as a Senior Placements Officer, The British Red Cross in the Event First Aid Team whereby I had my first encounter with CQC audits, a Medical Device company as an account manager and an ARC within a Housing Association as a Senior Business Administrator.

Living with a disability, sometimes visible, sometimes not, has opened my eyes to the world and its unpreparedness to accommodate the disabled’s needs. This has motivated me to remain in the sector and push for change. I look forward to meeting new people across the sector, bringing together innovation and a new culture of equality, diversity and the best outcomes for individuals.

I am the proud mother of 2 14-year-old puggles called Bauer and Logan. Having two puppies at the same time is not for the faint-hearted (especially when they rip your kitchen floor and table apart!) but they have brought me happiness and taught me so much about living in the moment and finding joy in the small things (rolling in fox poo is not one of those)! I am an avid reader of crime, thriller, science fiction, romantasy and fantasy books as well as the odd autobiography thrown in for good measure. I love to travel too, most recently going on Safari in Kenya, which was a huge bucket list item to tick off. Now I live in a tiny village, the local pub is the highlight of the week, catching up on the gossip and being technical support to the neighbours (average age in the village is 85!)
