Growing Exeter-based Technology Enabled Care provider, Taking Care, was visited on February 11th by Simon Jupp, MP for East Devon. Mr Jupp came to see how the company supported older adults with emergency alarms, fall detectors and Smart home monitors throughout the Covid pandemic and beyond.
During his visit, Mr Jupp saw a range of technology that has been designed to address the needs of people as they age, including the company’s innovative Taking Care Anywhere package that automatically detects falls and allows people to get 24/7 help from anywhere in the UK. Taking Care also presented its latest smart home devices that use monitored home sensors to help carers and family members identify and predict problems, ensuring their loved one is safe even when family and carers can’t be with them.
Over the course of his visit, Mr Jupp also spent time speaking with the Emergency Response Team to understand more about how Taking Care looks after older adults in the event of an emergency or if they require assistance. The company's specially trained Emergency Resolution Team has grown by over 30% in the last year alone as the company continues to grow and expand its product offering.
Taking Care, a subsidiary of AXA Health, allows older adults to enjoy life in the homes they love as they age, with technology that allows them to stay active, reduce falls and get help in an emergency, day, or night.
Steve Gates, Managing Director at Taking Care said:
“We were delighted to welcome Simon Jupp MP to Taking Care so that he could meet our Emergency Response Team and see the huge amount of work they do to support older adults in living safely and independently.
“TEC has an ever-increasing potential to play a more important role in health and social care than it currently does. The advancing technology, coupled with highly trained response operators, such as our own, allows people to be comfortable and safe in their homes for much longer and decreases hospital discharge times, therefore reducing strain on the NHS.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of TEC to Mr Jupp and to highlight some of the ways TEC is currently underutilised."
Simon Jupp, MP for East Devon said:
“It was a real pleasure to meet with the team at Taking Care and learn about the innovative and life changing work they do right here in Exeter and East Devon that impacts the lives of thousands across the UK. I am proud we have companies like Taking Care leading the way by using pioneering technology and dedicated emergency call responders to provide vulnerable individuals the means to live more confident and independent lives, while also giving their families piece of mind.”
